UKCCC Board Meeting Report – February 28, 2025
Host: Dashaco Africa Holdings Corporate Headquarters, Bonapriso – Douala
On February 28, 2025, the UK Cameroon Chamber of Commerce (UKCCC) Board convened for
its fourth meeting of the year at the Dashaco Africa Holdings headquarters in Douala. The
meeting addressed a variety of strategic and operational matters, and this report outlines the key
discussions, decisions, and actions taken during the session.

  1. Approval of the Minutes from the November 11, 2024, Board Meeting
    The meeting began with the approval of the minutes from the previous Board meeting held on
    November 11, 2024. After a review, the minutes were deemed accurate and approved
    unanimously by all members present.
  2. Matters Arising from the Minutes
    The Board revisited action items from the last meeting. All outstanding matters were either
    completed or currently in progress, with no significant issues requiring immediate attention.
  3. Updates
    a. 2024 Membership, Budget, and Operational Report
    The Executive Director (ED) presented a comprehensive 2024 operational report, which included
    updates on membership statistics, financial performance, and key areas of focus for 2025. The
    Board engaged in discussions on potential growth areas, such as expanding membership and
    improving operational efficiency. It was agreed that continued efforts would be made to enhance
    the Chamber’s presence and services, both for current members and for potential recruits.
    b. Memorandum of Association Signed on December 18, 2024
    The Chair updated the Board on the signing of the Memorandum of Association in December

    The American Chamber of Commerce and the European Chamber of Commerce, marking a
    milestone in the Chamber’s continued growth.
    c. Orwellian Project and Request for Sponsorship
    The Chair introduced a request from the joint Chambers to sponsor a dinner as part of the
    Orwellian Project, which explores the intersections of technology and ethical governance. After
    discussion, the Board approved the sponsorship via private members contributions, noting that it
    would enhance the Chamber’s visibility while promoting key issues related to ethics,
    governance, and technology.
    d. The West and Central African Forum (WCAF) in London (December 2-5, 2024)
    The Chairman of the Trade and Investment Committee shared highlights from the WCAF held in
    London. The event was deemed a success, with strong participation from global leaders focused
    on climate action, sustainable business practices, and environmental technologies. The Chamber
    made valuable connections, particularly in the environmental and sustainability sectors, which
    could lead to future collaboration opportunities.
  5. Approval of UKCCC Documentation
    Several critical documents related to the governance and operation of UKCCC were reviewed
    and adopted during the meeting, including:
  • UKCCC Articles of Association
  • UKCCC Bylaws
  • Code of Ethics
  • Arbitration Policy
  • Travel Policy
    The adoption of these documents ensures that UKCCC continues to operate under a clear and
    structured framework, which will guide the Chamber’s activities moving forward.
  1. Review of the UKCCC Audit Report (April 2023 – December 2024)
    The auditors, Ernst & Young (EY), presented their report for the period of April 2023 to
    December 2024. The report highlighted UKCCC’s solid financial standing, with praise for the
    Chamber’s commitment to transparency and best financial practices. No major discrepancies
    were noted, and the Board unanimously approved the audit report.
  2. Committee Reports and Plans for 2025
    Each of the Board’s committees shared updates and strategic initiatives for 2025:
  • Environmental and Sustainability Committee:
    o Cameroon Green Energy UKCCC Position Paper
    o Green Business Certification and Incentives Program
  • Trade and Investment Committee:
    o Follow-up on 2025 Trade Missions
    o SME Support and Capacity Building
    o Infrastructure and Industrial Development
    o International Trade Partnerships
  • Governance and Ethics Committee:
    o Board Governance Enhancement Project
    o Code of Ethics and Conduct Implementation
  • Treasury and Finance Committee:
    o Membership Revenue and Growth Strategy
    o Financial Transparency and Reporting Enhancement
    These initiatives are designed to drive the Chamber’s growth, strengthen its impact, and foster deeper
    business ties between the UK and Cameroon.
    Other Projects: UKCCC Monthly Webinars: The Executive Director also provided an update on the
    upcoming launch of monthly webinars, titled “UKCCC Conversations That Matter”. These webinars will
    serve as a key platform for educating the IT community and fostering engagement among stakeholders.
    The Board fully supported this initiative.
  1. Approval of New Members
    The following new members were approved by the Board:
  • United Councils and Cities of Cameroon
  • Premier Health Centers Douala (Dr. Ngatchou)
  • Societe Civile Immobilier Gods Grace – Douala – Mme Agwenjang Sephorah
  • Tech Equity UK (Dr. Shyhan Navti)
    These new members bring diverse expertise and resources, further enriching UKCCC’s network and
    mission.
  1. UK Government-Sponsored Review of the Cameroon Business Forum
    The Chair updated the Board on the UK Government-sponsored review of the Cameroon Business
    Forum, which aims to assess and improve its effectiveness. UKCCC is collaborating closely on this
    review, which is expected to strengthen UK-Cameroon business relations. The Board expressed its full
    support for this initiative.
  2. Any Other Business (AOB)
    There were no additional matters raised under AOB, and the meeting concluded after all agenda items
    were discussed and decisions were made.
    Closing Remarks
    The Chair thanked all members for their active participation and contributions. Emphasizing the
    importance of collaboration, the Chair reiterated the Board’s commitment to strengthening UKCCC’s
    position as a leading player in promoting UK-Cameroon business relations. The meeting was adjourned
